Dennis Smith

Founder and CEO

As the founder and CEO of Computer Business Solutions, Inc., Dennis sets the vision and direction for the company, develops the strategy, and oversees the execution of CBSi's marketing, sales, and operations.

His background includes successful careers working for Mobil Oil, Exxon, and Peat Marwick (KMPG). Driven to make material positive impact on the business performance of his clients Dennis founded Integrated Business Services, a consulting company implementing Accpac ERP for companies in the Los Angeles metroplex.  With it's success, he moved with his family to Plano, TX and founded Computer Business Solutions in 1991.

In 1995, CBSi was implementing ERP software from Accpac and Great Plains. But Dennis knew a fully ERP customizable solution would enable CBSi to automate even more client processes.  After many demos and due diligence, he believed Navision provided the best choice to serve his clients,. Although Navision was developed in Denmark and was little known in the U.S. at the time, Dennis believed it would have a strong future. CBSi became a certified Navision Solution Center in 1996 and successfully implemented Navision at a large distributor which went live in March of that year.

Navision grew fast, was purchased by Microsoft, renamed Dynamics NAV, and is currently known as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. Since 1996 Dennis has focused the business on what has now become the most used ERP software on the planet. Dennis states that, with the power and adaptability of Business Central, CBSi has yet to encounter a client request that the company’s experienced consulting and development team could not provide. As a result, CBSi is now a leading Microsoft Dynamics partner and innovator in the region.

Dennis graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX with a BA in Finance and a minor in Economics. He earned his MBA from Pepperdine University.

A native of Dallas, Dennis is an Eagle Scout and an active supporter of his community and faith. He has three grown children and happily resides with his wife in Plano, Texas.
